Athens 6.7 – A brand new Prism
Athens 6.7 brings a complete redesign of the Prism preset, six brand new sections, nine additional languages, and major improvements to the mini cart, collection pages, product pages, and overall shopping experience.
Combined with more than two dozen fixes and refinements, this release makes Athens more versatile, easier to configure, and better equipped to help merchants turn browsing into buying.
A completely redesigned Prism preset
The Prism preset has received a fresh coat of paint and a complete visual refresh.
The redesigned preset introduces updated layouts, refined typography, improved styling, and a more polished overall shopping experience while retaining the flexibility and strong visual identity that make Prism a great starting point for modern online stores.
Six brand new sections
Athens 6.7 introduces six new sections designed to help merchants present products, offers, content, and collections in more engaging ways.
Flexible – Expandables
The new Flexible – Expandables section lets you create expandable content blocks using images and content sourced from Shopify pages.
It is ideal for presenting detailed information such as product guides, frequently asked questions, shipping details, brand stories, or any other content that customers should be able to explore without leaving the page.
Offers
The new Offers section provides a dedicated way to promote discounts, seasonal campaigns, special deals, and other incentives throughout your storefront.
Color swatches
The new Color swatches section lets you build visually rich navigation experiences around colors, finishes, materials, or other visual product attributes.
Customers can browse available options at a glance and quickly move toward the products that match their preferences.
Video gallery
Video is becoming an increasingly important part of ecommerce, and the new Video gallery section makes it easier to showcase multiple videos in a structured, storefront-friendly layout.
Use it for product demonstrations, buying guides, tutorials, customer stories, campaign videos, or behind-the-scenes content.
Browse by type
The new Browse by type section helps customers navigate large catalogs through a clear, compact directory of product categories.
Each row can feature an icon, a broad category such as Exterior, Interior, or Lighting, and a series of links to related collections or product types. It is particularly useful for stores with extensive inventories, where customers often know the kind of item they need but may not know its exact name or where to find it.
Custom bundles
The new Custom bundles section helps merchants present curated product combinations and encourage customers to purchase multiple complementary items together.
It provides a flexible foundation for creating bundle-style shopping experiences directly within the theme.
A mini cart designed to convert
The mini cart receives some of the most substantial improvements in Athens 6.7, with several new features designed to increase order value and help customers complete their purchases.
Cross-sell recommendations
You can now display cross-sell products directly inside the mini cart.
This makes it easier to recommend complementary items at the moment customers are already considering their purchase.
Recommendations for an empty cart
An empty cart no longer needs to be a dead end.
You can now display recommended collections when the mini cart is empty, helping customers continue browsing and discover relevant parts of your catalog.
Order notes
Customers can now add an order note directly from the mini cart without visiting the full cart page.
This is especially useful for stores that accept gift messages, delivery instructions, customization requests, or other customer-provided information.
More flexible collection pages
Athens 6.7 introduces several improvements to collection and search pages, giving both merchants and customers more control over how products are displayed.
New row layout
The Main collection grid section now includes a row layout, providing an additional way to present products beyond the traditional grid.
This layout can be particularly useful when product descriptions, specifications, or other supporting information need more room.
Shopper-facing layout switcher
Merchants can now allow customers to switch between the available collection layouts themselves.
The shopper-facing layout switcher gives visitors more control over how they browse products, whether they prefer a compact overview or a more spacious presentation.
Control expanded filters
The Main collection and search sections now include a setting that controls how many filters are expanded by default.
You can keep all filters collapsed, expand only the most important ones, or display as many as 25 expanded filters when customers first open the filtering interface.
New Score block for products
The Main product and Featured product sections now include a new Score block.
This provides another visual way to communicate product ratings, performance indicators, specifications, test results, or other measurable qualities directly on the product page.
Nine new languages
Athens is now available in nine additional languages:
- Czech
- Finnish
- Norwegian
- European Portuguese
- Turkish
- Japanese
- Korean
- Simplified Chinese
- Traditional Chinese
These additions make Athens more accessible to merchants and customers across a wider range of international markets.
Wider storefront layouts
A new Page width theme setting lets you choose between the default container and a new wide container.
The wide option increases the maximum page width from 146rem to 163rem, providing additional space for stores that favor larger imagery, broader layouts, or more expansive desktop presentations.
Additional theme improvements
Athens 6.7 also introduces several smaller settings and refinements throughout the theme.
Open social links in a new window
A new theme setting lets you choose whether social media links open in a new browser window.
This helps customers visit your social profiles without completely leaving the storefront.
Larger heading sizes
Various sections now support new 3XL and 4XL heading sizes, giving merchants more freedom to create bold editorial layouts and stronger visual hierarchy.
Consistent heading controls
Heading size scales and labels have been consolidated into a shared system, creating a more consistent editing experience throughout the theme.
Better placeholder content
All blocks in the Main product section now include placeholder content, making them easier to preview and configure inside the Shopify theme editor.
Cart and mini cart fixes
This release resolves several issues affecting cart behavior and cart-related events.
- Fixed an issue that caused the Bulk order section to crash when clicking Remove all.
- Corrected the variant ID included when a product was removed from the cart or mini cart.
- Setting an item quantity to zero now triggers the correct cart removal event.
- Fixed an issue where cart notes could be submitted as line-item quantities and disappear when the footer re-rendered.
- Corrected the indentation of the note field on the cart page.
- Added safeguards for custom layouts that do not include a mini cart.
- Fixed the
toggle-mini-cartevent so that it can both open and close the mini cart. - Removed a duplicate

Header improvements
Several issues affecting header and cart behavior have also been addressed.
- The Redirect to cart page after adding a product setting now works correctly.
- Fixed an issue that could cause the cart total price to become hidden.
- Custom cart icons no longer revert to the default icon.
Collection and filtering refinements
Collection pages receive several stability and usability improvements.
- Products selected for comparison now remain selected when customers change the collection layout.
- The
collection:product-filtersevent now responds specifically to the pagination parameter instead of incorrectly matching any URL containing the word “page.”
Layout and theme editor fixes
Athens 6.7 includes further refinements across responsive layouts and the Shopify theme editor.
- Fixed a brief card-stacking flash when resizing slider layouts past the desktop breakpoint.
- Resolved several issues involving rich-text and video wrappers inside the theme editor.
- Improved the consistency of heading-size settings and labels across sections.
SEO and storefront markup improvements
This release also improves the consistency and quality of the storefront’s generated markup.
Athens now outputs a secure Open Graph image URL and removes stray whitespace from page titles, helping produce cleaner metadata when pages are shared or indexed.
